Hank’s head drops back against the couch. “Jesus Christ--”
“I’m not sure. I… I’ve come to analyze multiple symptoms that coincide with emotional attachment.”
He just breathes heavy out his nose. “Connor… C’mon. That’s not love. That’s… this is, like… a fucked up hobby. Can’t ya just get into trains or somethin’?”
Connor presses on regardless. “Increased processing priority-- similar to spikes of dopamine. Feedback loops. Sometimes brought on by involuntary memory recall. She made my stomach churn--”
“Connor, that’s not butterflies. That’s synthetic bile!”
“...it was a working theory.” A tad defensive.

The RK-900 needs the valuable information about deviants stored in Connor’s head. It captures him after a very unfortunate chase.
Held against his will, Connor is stuck, with nobody to save him.
At least Nines is tormenting him instead of humans.

RK-900 kidnaps Connor and takes a sick interest in trying to deviate him. Connor stays, even though he has multiple opportunities to escape, because there's nothing left for him out there. Even if he does capture the RK-900, he'll still be obsolete and deactivated once again. After all, maybe Nines isn't too bad... -

Only one problem: She's a Deviant sympathizer, who uses her position to sabotage Cyberlife's attempts at finding deviants and uses her free time to repair and smuggle deviants. At first, she thought being assigned her new android partner would encumber her activities but as it turns out, her new android partner is becoming more and more human so maybe...she's right where she needs to be.

When life gives you a freedom you had been unknowingly fighting against, you get left stranded in your own metaphorical hell. Connor struggles with trying to feel alive, and where he's meant to belong. Hank struggles with getting used to having another presence in his space, and getting used to the ever growing feeling that Connor means more to him than he originally thought. Markus, North, Josh, and Simon struggle to keep the peace between androids and humans as people slowly return to Detroit and androids try to integrate into every day life. Kara, Luther, and Alice contemplate staying in Canada in hiding, or returning to Detroit, all while trying to understand what it means to be a family. Gavin can't seem to adjust to the circumstances one case puts him in, but slowly he learns how to get over himself and open up to the new face in his life as well as confronting a past he's been constantly running away from.
There is no right way to be human, but that takes time for everyone to learn.
