This is an AU fiction that I started about 12 years ago that was meant as one off short story on a different platform, it also started off as a Jemily fiction but while I felt strongly about the world building I couldn't for some reason carry it through as a Jemily storyline.
In this AU Vampires have souls and some are born vampires as well as humans changed; the same with Were animals, whilst this fic deals with werewolves in most countries the Weres are the apex predator or predators in those countries. All vampires are supposed to now drink a synthetic 'human blood' based on blood from cattle with chemicals and a small amount of plasma. This has stopped some, but not all of the conflict between humans and vampires.
The Academy system is where every orphan or street child is placed. There's an explanation in the story.
Humans have known about all the different beings since the end of WW2, where a council of all the other beings came forward to try and stop all-out nuclear war. Whilst this did stop the use and development of nuclear weapons it brought forward other conflicts and feuds between different species.
Vampires and werewolves are banned from turning human beings but impossible to enforce.
